Abstract
The presentation is an introduction to “Spiral Dynamics,” a model developed by Clare Graves. This model highlights core value systems or worldviews that emerge as our thinking evolves to greater levels of complexity. These value systems form a kind of psychosocial blueprint that spreads throughout a culture and are expressed in language, religion, lifestyles, art forms, and social movements. A basic tenet of Spiral Dynamics is that individuals and groups operate from different worldviews or levels of consciousness and this often accounts for conflict within and between societies. The presentation will introduce the audience to each of the core value systems (how they developed, the main features, etc.) and explore ways to communicate more effectively with others.
