Ralph E. & Hulda M. Fields Scholarship Established in 1988
by Carroll and Nancy O'Connor in memory of Mrs. O'Connor's
father and mother. An annual award to four Native American
students representing forestry, journalism, law, and
pharmacy.

Earl Old Person Scholarship
Established in 1994
to honor Earl Old Person, Chief of the Blackfeet Nation.
Awarded to a member of the Blackfeet Tribe who is a recent
high school graduate or transfer from Blackfeet Community
College. Must have a 3.0 gpa.

Sappenfield Scholarship
Established in 1992
by the daughters of Bert Sappenfield in honor of their
father. Dr. Sapenfield taught in psychology at UM until
1978. An annual award to a Native American graduate student
in psychology.

Bonnie Heavy Runner
ScholarshipEstablished in 1999 by
several donors in memory of Bonnie Heavy Runner Craig,
a highly respected UM Educator. An annual award to Native
American students in law and Native American Studies.

Dennis & Gretchen Eck Scholarship
Established in 1993
by the Ecks, UM alumni,.An annual award to an enrolled
member of the Assiniboine tribe or children of members.

Anna Marie Lucas Scholarship
Established in 1987
through the will of Ms. Lucas. An annual award to a Native
American student enrolled full-time at UM.

Alice M. Phillips Scholarship
Established in 1976
by the will of Mrs. Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a UM history
professor until 1954. Awarded to a Native American student.
Preference given to history major.

Kate & Russell Stark Memorial
Fund
Established in 1984
by the Starks. Mr. Stark graduated from UM in 1924. Provides
more than one award to Native American graduate students
in all fields.

Scholarship

Jaye in 1990 to honor a family friend and Native Montanan.
Awarded to a Native American student enrolled full-time.

American student enrolled full-time.

by Ruth Bergan in memory of her husband. Provides several
scholarships for students who are enrolled members of
a Montana Tribe.

American student who shows promise and determination.

Established in 1999
by the Spauldings, UM alumni. Annual awards to graduate
and undergraduate Native American students.

Scholarship
Established in 1992
by President and Mrs. Dennison. Awarded to an enrolled
member of the Salish & Kootenai Confederated Tribes.

Alan P. Merriam Scholarship
Established in 1989
by Valerie Merriam in memory of her husband who was a
UM Alumni.Awarded to a Native American student with and
interest in Native American Studies.

Established in 1991
through the will of Doris Gregory. Awarded to Native
American students enrolled full-time and demonstrating
good academic progress.
