
The application deadline is January 1st for entrance into the program the following fall.
When applying to a Psychology Graduate Program you must:
- Submit a completed graduate school application and pay the application fee. Applications can be found on the graduate school web site at:
http://life.umt.edu/grad
- Take the GRE General Test and have your scores reported to the University of Montana Graduate School (school code: R4489)
- Take the GRE Psychology Subject Test and have your scores reported to the University of Montana Graduate School (school code: R4489; Clinical Dept. code: 2001; Experimental Dept. code: 2007) Psych Subject Tests are offered in April, October and November only. NOTE: The Subject Test is only required for those applying to the Clinical, Developmental, Animal Behavior, or General Experimental Programs. Students applying to the School Ph.D. or Ed.S. programs are not required to take the Subject test.

- Submit these supporting application materials in one packet to the address given below:
- 3 letters of recommendation. Recommendation Forms can be printed off from the graduate school application or downloaded separately here. Each recommendation letter should be in a sealed envelope with the recommender’s signature across the seal.
- Official Transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools you have attended.
- Personal Statement - Please mention two or more faculty members whose research interests best match your own, and with whom you would like to work.
- Applicants may also include a vita and/or writing sample if they so desire, but neither is required.
