Political Cognition Lab (Faculty Director: Dr. Luke Conway). This lab is dedicated to producing the best political psychology research possible. Our lab's work has been featured in major national and international news outlets (e.g., Washington Post, BBC Radio). We study what shapes people's thoughts and beliefs, and the subsequent consequences those thoughts and beliefs have. As the name implies, we are particularly interested in thoughts and beliefs that have political implications. At a practical level, our lab is divided into two (often overlapping) lab groups: The Consensus Lab and the Cognitive Complexity lab. The Consensus lab focuses on the often-shared nature of beliefs. The Cognitive Complexity lab focuses on whether beliefs have a simple or complex structure.
